publications:
there is violence in these vapours

Graham Buchan's first full-length collection proves that he is a master of 'viral poetry' - words that infect the reader with their anger, cynicism and intelligence.

Your eyes are wide… from there is violence in these vapours

Your eyes are wide, like a lens.

Your head is cool, like a camera.

Your brain is sensitive, like film.

Your mind is patient, like chemicals in solution.

You photograph me, and I exist.

I can imagine

nestling against wide deep cushions

inside the contours of your cranium,

secure in that cool dark place,

and peering out along twin shafts of sunlight,

sharing your objectivity.
