weightless

some turbulent weather (to be published 5th June 2008)

Back Steps from weightless

smoke from my 4th spliff

disappearing with dust

into the air beyond

where the black cat

scratches its paws

against the tree

& I remember again

the things you said

& the things we did

before I ended up

here at 5.23am

on the backsteps

half a stone thinner

with a glass of red

& a £2.59 bottle

of Sainsbury’s cider

3 litres new & improved

to carry me further

than any country

where you roam

with your skin

I cry for
